New songs update 31/12/10

The Black Eyed Peas - The Time (Dirty Bit)

Love the chorus. The verses not so.

Taio Cruz ft. Travie McCoy - Higher

Chris Brown - Yeah 3X

Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP - We No Speak Americano

Not an English song. But the beat of the song is just awesome.

Enrique Iglesias Nicole Scherzinger - Heartbeat

Cool video, cool piano, cool song.

DJ Earworm - United State of Pop 2010 (Don't Stop the Pop)

It's a mashup of the top 25 songs of 2010. I think the 2009 version sounds much nicer though.

Stupid timetable

Went back to college this morning to register the subjects for the third semester. Aside from the compulsory subject Statistics and Lan subject Moral studies, I still have to take two more elective subjects. I have decided on Business Principles but the last subject was still uncertain. But I have finally chosen C Programming.

Reached there early and fortunately there were many available computers to use. Since we reached early, we waited for the time for registration to start.

Guess what. After thinking and finally deciding on taking C Programming, it wasn't available to be taken. The stupid guy that I asked wasn't even helpful when asked why it isn't available. So what to do. Considered my other backup options: Legal Studies (which was eventually ruled out after hearing that there was a 30 minutes presentation to be done), Internet Principles, Tourism and Hospitality, and Psychology. Unfortunately, I couldn't sign up for the latter two because they clash with my other classes that I already signed up. What the heck man. Really dulan already. So sucks la. Finally, have to cancel my Moral Studies class so that I can choose Internet Principles as my last elective. Have to take Moral Studies during my degree program only. Haiz.

Although I will be taking only three subjects, I still need to go to college everyday!! OMG. I can't believe that!!. Take three subjects only but still need go everyday. Stupid timetable. I have only one or two classes each day. Waste time, energy and petrol to go to college everyday.

What else can be done?

Every decision comes with a consequence. I wonder what are the consequences now.

Meet the Parents: Little Fockers and korean birthday dinner

Went to see Meet the Parents: Little Fockers yesterday.

Although I never saw the previous movies that led to this sequel, it's not difficult to understand the movie. For a comedy, the movie's story is decent. A few parts doesn't really seem logical but it doesn't really matter for a comedy. It kinda starts slow but it gradually gets more and more funnier. There are lots of hilarious parts and the audience will burst out laughing hysterically. The two main actors are good too and their non-verbal language are very good.

Overall a great movie that will give lots of laughter. In my opinion, I'm not quite sure whether rating 13pg is appropriate though. Anyway be sure to stay for the extra scene when the credits start rolling ;)

Rating: 8.3/10

On a side note, I managed my best score in bowling: 122. :D

In the evening, it was birthday celebration for Sherliz at Korean Village. It was quite fun and enjoyable. Except for the food part since I'm not a fan of Korean food. At least it was something different. The meat was tasty though XD.

We sang the birthday song more times than usual. After singing the usual times (English and Chinese), one of the workers there asked if we wanted the birthday song to be played. LOL so we sang again.

I reached home about 11pm+. Didn't went for the second round at the mamak. Still had unfinished things to be done...

Semester 2 exam results

The results came out before noon yesterday. I just wanted to go out when I received a sms informing me that the results are out. Lol.

Critical Thinking Skills: Pass
I wanted a credit here but the final exam must have been very hard to score. I must have did quite badly in my final exam. Fortunately I still passed it.

Advanced English: Distinction
I think I would have just manage to get distinction on this.

Accounting: Distinction
Another 1 which I'm not quite sure how I managed this result.

Economics Principles: Distinction
I'm glad with this result. After all, Econs is a possible degree choice.

Malaysian Studies result not out yet. Hopefully I will pass it. I don't want to retake it.

Semester 2 overview

Semester 2 was much harder than the 1st. Harder, longer studying hours, more subjects, tougher assignments... let's end that by saying semester 2 was really stressful. I took 5 subjects (2 compulsory, 2 electives, and 1 lan) during semester 2: Advanced English, Critical Thinking Skills, Principles of Accounting, Economics Principles and Malaysian Studies.

Just by comparing the words "intermediate" and "advanced", Advanced English was expected to be more difficult than Intermediate English. No surprises here. Grammar was even more important and focused than before. The worst thing about Advanced English was probably (or definitely) the term/research paper. Basically, students must write a research paper consisting of 2000 words with citation, references. Paraphrasing is required as no plagiarizing is allowed. With many rules and regulation to do a good paper, it brought a lot of suffering. Besides that, it comprises 25% of the total marks in Advanced English. Adding the 10% of presentation needed to be done on the topic of each respective research paper, they take up a whopping 35% out of 100% of the subject! Kinda makes the research paper more important when it consists of so many marks.

How about the lecturer? It's easy to describe her. When she is in a good mood (usually during the early classes), the class will be fun and cheerful. When she is in a bad mood (usually during the late classes), it's GG!! She is actually quite nice with her friendly smile and lessons will go on smoothly. Too bad she has a darker side. She blasted the class quite a number of times, including 1 time when she made a super offensive remark: saying that a dog wouldn't even understand our work. WTH man?! So freaking offensive. At least she did apologize at one of the classes near the end of the semester. After all, this was her first time teaching Advanced English.

Critical Thinking Skills was the 2nd compulsory subject for all semester 2 students. Compared to Study Skills, I actually think that this subject is much more useful as it relates more to daily life. Unfortunately, CTS is still a tough subject with a lot to memorize while understanding it.

The lecturer was decent. Though the lectures may sometimes be quite boring, he does give good and clear examples, and is sometimes quite funny.

Accounting was a hard and boring subject for me. It is not really related to Maths. It should be more accurate to say that it is more related to numbers. There isn't much calculation. It's the terms and format that makes doing accounting hard. Another subject with plenty of memorizing. The good thing about this subject is NO assignments or presentations at all. :DDD

Economics Principles covered the basics of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. Micro was easier than Macro. Anyway, I preferred this subject to Accounting. For this subject, more understanding is needed than memorizing. Other than that, we must relate most of the things that we learnt in the previous topic to the next topic.

The lecturer was quite fun. Her teaching is good and she gives clear examples, though she sometimes teaches too fast. She sometimes tells some stories too. Haha. Every week, her laptop wallpaper will have a different picture of her baby girl. We had really fun time during the class party where we saw her really let her hair down.

Malaysian Studies... the new Sejarah. 1 word. Boring. I really hate Sejarah and this is no better than it. Well maybe except the fact that it is in English. The group assignments were hard too. The first 1 required us to do a video. The second was to talk about a Malaysian movie (Gadoh) that we saw during one of the class. Last one was to visit a place and to make a scrap book about our experience. Haiz it's sad that we got quite low marks for all. I had to work harder for the final exam to aim for a pass.

A very tough semester for me indeed.

Last Christmas

I really love this song. It's my favourite Christmas song.

Cascada's version

Taylor Swift's version

and my favourite version by Glee Cast

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance, but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby, do you recognize me?
Well it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me

Christmas
I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying 'I love you', I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now, I know you'd fool me again

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you, and your soul of ice
My god I thought you were someone to rely on
Me, I guess I was a shoulder to cry on

A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man under cover but you tore me apart
Now I've found a real love, you'll never fool me again

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Gave you my heart...

The Social Network

Went to Mid Valley today with YSL and Yap. We intended to watch Harry Potter 7 (part 1) but unfortunately, the seats were all sold out already when we reach there at around 11am plus. I didn't expect it to be sold out so fast since it has been about a month since that movie was released. Oh well, at least we had a backup plan - The Social Network.

The Social Network tells the story of facebook and how it was formed by Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg). Therefore, it is entirely based on the true story.

Action movies fans will probably not enjoy this movie as much as others. They might think "stop talking and start fighting!". Basically, there is a lot of talking in this movie. And that isn't a bad thing. Jokes are regularly heard, making this movie part comical too. It might be slightly difficult to understand the movie, especially the early flashbacks and forward, but it gradually grows on you.

A punk and a genius. The main actor portrays it brilliantly. All the actors were good but he really played the role very well.

Overall, I think everyone above 18 years old (since it is rated 18+) with a facebook account should watch this nicely produced movie. 8.5/10
