26/3/10

Last class for the week - Computing Principles.

I was quite surprise that the lecturer came almost on time - just about 2 minutes late only.

And she wasn't happy that some students came late.

Hmmm a punctual, on time lecturer that doesn't like us to be late. She is probably the most serious out of the 3 lecturers too. Not many jokes were said to lighten the mood. She do seem friendly though.

She went through with us about the topics that we were going to learn. I thought that we were saved from another introducing ourselves section. Too bad the slide on the screen read "ICE BREAKERS" after she was done with the brief intro to the subject.

Name, hobby, ambition, school name. Sounds quite simple right? It would be if there wasn't a complication - she banned many hobbies. Watching tv, playing computer games, talking, eating, sleeping and the common hobbies were banned by her, including listening to music, which is my hobby. What la...

And I was the first person to be called. And that leaves me no time to think of a new 'uncommon' hobby.

I stammered when it came to my hobby question. Until a heard a voice beside me giving me an idea.

"Reading story books... and novels."

Phew...

When everyone was done, the lecturer asked for my name again.
"The guy in front of xxxxx. What's your name?"
"Paul."
"You came early today right? I mean before the class started?"
"Yea."
"Ok you are class rep."
Class Representative?? Like a class monitor? Oh no... not good...
"Ok."

So I had to wait outside the Academic Staff Room for her a few minutes before the each of her class starts to lend a hand in carrying her things. Not too bad I guess as this might last for only 2 more classes.

Helped her carried her things and laptop to the staff room when the class ended, earlier than expected.

Feeling pressured.

25/3/10

I drove to college today with my mum beside and friend behind as there were less cars during this timing (around 9 something).

1st class today was Study Skills. The lecturer was bubbly and cheerful. But today's class wasn't an introduction to the subject that were going to learn (like yesterday), it was more like asking us to introduce ourselves.

She asked us to say 3 fact about ourselves - except 1 of them have to be a lie, and the rest of us will have to guess which one is the lie.

And the worse part is... we have to do it 1 by 1... in front of the class of 28 people.

Sure sure... I probably could have lots of facts that are unexpected and not many people would guess it. But revealing secrets now doesn't seem like a good idea.

So I thought of a few that I can reveal.

I was the second last person to be called to go out (not sure if that is a good or bad thing).

"Firstly, I can play drum. Secondly, I can solve a Rubik's Cube. And thirdly, I can move my ears."

But they managed to guess correctly as most of them guess the first and second choice.

Played another game where we have to say out our name 3 times while simultaneously doing an action... and everyone has to follow it... and keep repeating everyone's action. Aiyo... really zzz... like kiddy game only. We did so many times the action, I wouldn't be surprise if this is as good as an exercise as a 30 minute jog.

Lunch at Pizza hut together with another new friend too. Total RM10 per person. Hopefully there are other places around that has nice and cheap food. :D

Intermediate English started at 2.00pm. Just like the previous 2 classes, the lecturer came in about 10 minutes late. But although this lecturer was quite funny, he can be quite strict at the proper time too. Reminds me of my Form 2 English teacher...

What to expect? Introduction again. Haiz. We had to say about 3 things - our name, least favourite movie and the qualities that we looking for in our future spouse. Ok...

Had another ice breaker after that too.

Well these ice breakers and introduction are kinda fun... and boring too at the same time.

So I can't decide if I rather start on the studies or have these introduction.

First class at college

The alarm went off as I tried with great effort to wake up. For the first time in months, I felt that feeling of going back to school once again. 6.20am I peek at the watch before lazing around the bed for a few more minutes.

Me and my friend reached around 7.50am. Good thing we are on time. I don't want to be late - especially for the first class.

Walking down the long corridor would probably burn some calories.

Found the room, sat down waited...

It was quiet... too quiet...

Had to speak in whispers.

The lecturer came in at about 8.10am. He will be teaching us for 3 weeks only on Finite Mathematics. He is actually quite nice - the kind of lecturer that I would prefer.

As he explained to us, I heard movement of the other students and saw most of them taking out their pen and note books to copy down any important details. I quickly imitated them.

Finite Maths - harder than Add Maths but easier than STPM level - that's what he said. He gave a quick summary on each topic that we would learn. Mostly its topics that we learned before in Add Maths/Maths... just harder and more complicated. I tried to recall back the things I learned before. I hope nobody finds out my SPM results on Maths and Add Maths - it might give me more pressure to do well in this subject.

After explaining all 12 topics (which we have to learn in 14 weeks only! omg!) he gave us... homework... 20 questions starting from very easy to hard. Haiz. My brain have to work to solving Maths questions already - not that its a bad thing...

"Ok, class dismiss."
I was nonplussed by the lecturer's announcement. I glanced at my watch... 8.55am... but I thought the class was from 8-10am...

"Huh? Finished already? Really?"

The other 20 odd students were packing up. So I guess it really means that we are free to go home now.

Kind of hard to believe. A supposedly 2 hours class shorten about 50 mins. Lol. Nice XD

Good start ^^ Nice lecturer, interesting subject (well for me it is), and not too long class. Haha.

If only this good luck could carry on.
