Double movies at TS

My friend, Vic and I reached Time Square at around 10.15am. We went early as I wanted to avoid the long queues that pile up to buy tickets at GSC.

As expected, there were only a few people lining up to buy tickets this early. When it was my turn, I was surprise to see that the person selling the tickets in the counter that I was in was my classmate(now ex classmate) Marina. She was equally surprise to see me. After I chose the movie 'Alvin and the Chipmunks 2', she said, "Do you have student card?"
"Err, no."
"Ah never mind. Give you student rate."
So we both paid student rates for the chipmunk movie XD. After all, I am a student(well ex student now) and she knows it of course. So I'm not really taking advantage...

We decided to buy tickets to see Avatar in 3D too. Lol I must be crazy... wanting to see Avatar twice... I calculated and there was enough time for us. At least its her first time seeing it. And it was my first time seeing a 3D movie. We went Dutch for the tickets.

So Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 was a fun movie. It was funnier that I expected. The 1 and a half hour long movie was quite fun to watch. The female chipmunks(known as Chipettes) were a great addition. Another 8/10 rating movie.

I LOVE this version!!

I ate lunch slightly faster than I did as I didn't want to risk missing the starting part of the movies. I hate to be late for movies.

Without a doubt, 3D avatar was better than 2D. Even the price was 'better'. Fortunately, I didn't have much troubles having the 3D glasses over my real glasses.

Both of us enjoyed both of the movies. It was a great day.

What's next?

Even the trailer is so funny XDXDXD

1st driving lesson

I had my first 2 hours of driving lesson today. I went to the bus stop outside my apartment at 10.30am to see a white colour Proton Saga waiting for me.

The instructor drove me to the LRT parking in Pandan Indah. He stop at the side and told me about the things to do before driving. Then, he gave me the wheel.

Adjusted the chair, adjusted the mirrors, fastened my seat belt, checked the gear, switched on the engine and checked the wiper and signals. I got to remember those things which need to be done in correct order.

Anyway, I drove around the car park in gear 1. It was quite simple. Apparently he could read my thoughts.
"This is the first time that you are driving?" He asked.
"Yea except when driving the car in the open space when learning about car."
"You seem like you know how to drive already."

Maybe its the fact that I'm driving at speeds of barely reaching 10km/h?

After a few more rounds, he finally told me to drive to the small roads and roads at the housing area where there were less cars. I could use gear 2 then.

Later on, he directed me to drive to the main roads. Waaa scary... I was afraid that I might knock other cars. I was driving quite slow too. I could reach gear 3 but he didn't tell me to do so. Therefore, I remain at gear 2.

I had no problems at driving except 1 part - making the car move from rest. I'm still not used to releasing the clutch slowly. But I guess I'm improving. But the engine still died about 3 times T.T Once it was in the middle of the road(it was red light so I had to stop), the engine died when the lights turned green and the car behind me sounded the horn. T.T I wished I had a sticker attached to the back window of the car that says 'WARNING: Only Drive Behind Me If You Want To Be Late'

Omg I nearly killed someone!! Well not really... but it could happen! The instructor was talking to me thus causing my attention on the road reduced. Suddenly a man dashed across the road and I had to break suddenly. I think the instructor stepped on the break on his side too. After he cross the road, I continued on. I was nonplussed by the man's actions until the instructor told me that it was red light at the pedestrian crossing. -.- First time driving on the main road was the first time I beat the traffic lights. Lol.

In addition to that, I nearly killed a cat too. A car sprinted across the road I had to break sharply to avoid it. Don't like this la. I don't want to kill anything... especially on my first driving lesson...

"My driving is bad right?" I asked as I drive back to the bus stop.
"That's what you think is it?"
"Yea."
"No la. Other people drive at the small roads only. I let you drive at the main road already." He revealed but I couldn't tell if what he said was true.

Driving is excitingly scary...

Not the best Christmas

Christmas

Christmas is not only a time to spend with love ones...

Christmas is not only a time to enjoy the delicious food and turkey...

Christmas is not only a time to give and receive...

Christmas is more than celebrating with friends and going for parties...

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. - John 3:16

Its a time to remember that Jesus was born to save us...

Happy birthday Jesus.

Finding Jobs...

A few friends went to Time Square today to look for part time job that are available and suitable. I decided to tagged along. Although I do have a job that I will be applying, I wanted to see some other options. And besides, I want to break away from my usual schedule of dating the computer at home.

After an hour of fruitless search, we decided to give up. The only available part time jobs were for females only. Others were for full time.

'Promoter wanted' read a sign stickied to a glass window. But as we went nearer, the fine print read 'girls only'. Haiz... unfair lo. Girls are easier to get part time job than guys...

After a short while at the arcade(who could resist the temptation?), our group separated and I went home.

Church Musical

It was my church's Christmas Musical last night. We have it every year before Christmas.

It was a nice musical. The photos that I took weren't good though. Anyway, you must be there to really enjoy it and feel the atmosphere.

Avatar

After some confusion and complicated planning, we decided to see Avatar at Imax cinema in Times Square. Me, Ming, Sam, Yapio and JX. The movie was at 2.45pm so Rick couldn't see it as he needed to go off.

It was my first time seeing movie at Imax. It was quite big and the screen was huge! And the popcorn and mineral water was expensive - Rm5 and RM2 respectively.
"Wa so expensive la." That's what we said when we ate JX's popcorn XD.

In my opinion, I thought the 2 hours 43 mins long movie was quite good. The story was nice. The graphics were excellent and I thought that they made the Avatar world very beautiful. Though there were 1 or 2 little boring parts, that didn't stop this movie from being a success. One downside of the movie was there were very few laughable moments.

Oh and I think that to truly enjoy this movie, one must be suck inside the story and understand Jake's emotions.

I'll give Avatar a solid 8/10.

New spectacles

Well not exactly new spectacles. Its more like new lens. I used back the same frame of my old glasses.
Omg. The power for my left eye is 575 while my right eye is 675. No matter how many carrots i eat, my eyesight will still keep getting worse. Is my eyeball getting longer or what?

Still not use to the new lens yet. Hard to focus. The guy said need to take 1-2 days to get use to my new lens.

Wish I have perfect vision.

6 hours car lesson

I arrived at Pudu at around 7.40am today alone. I glance round at the people there as we waited for the driver to arrive. As I look around for the third time, I noticed a Chinese guy trying to catch my eye. He nodded at me and I smiled at him. We drew closer and started talking. He is 20 years old and selling laptops is his job. He spoke Cantonese to me so I spoke back in that language to him. Omg... my Cantonese so cacat.

"You speak what language at home?"
"English."
"No wonder your Cantonese like that..."
-.-

The driver arrived at 8am(15 mins late) and we sat in the van to Sungai Buloh. I slept the whole journey. So tired already...

We reached an hour later and after registering, we started our class at 9.30am. There were 3 Chinese guys(including me), 3 Malay guys, 1 Indian guy, 1 Chinese girl and 1 Indian girl. Only 9 of us. As expected, it was damn boring!!!!!! Can die there... We had break after an hour before continuing. 1 min felt like 10 mins, 1 second felt like 10 seconds...

We ended the theory class at 12.30pm where we had another break. After that, it was learning outside the class. At 1pm, the instructor showed and taught us about the engine, the interior of the car and how to change the car tire. It was more interesting than the theory class.

It started at 3pm, the thing that would make this 6 hours worth going, the thing that would make a fool of those who decided to pay RM10 to skip the 3 hours lesson outside class - we got to drive for the first time! We got into groups of 2 and followed an instructor into a separate car. They were using Proton Sagas. The instructor drove to an open field beside the building where he stopped the car and said to my friend, "Ok you drive now." Wow I was shocked and excited. I thought that they were just going to show us how to change the gear and when to press the clutch. I didn't expect them to allow us to drive.

He wasn't very good at driving though. The engine died so many times when he tried(and failed) to release the clutch slowly. He said he was very nervous. The instructor was losing his patience too. He was quite grumpy and want us to drive according to his way.
"This is power steering. Very light only. You so big size also no strength to pull?"
"Turn left use left hand pull. Don't use right hand push."
He literally helped to control the steering wheel.

At least he joked too.
"Don't drive too right. After go inside the drain. You want to drink water?"

He drove more rounds than the rest of the cars(I saw them changing people to drive already). Finally after 1 last perfect circuit, the instructor said, "Ok stop here. Change people."

Fastened my seat belt, stepped on the clutch, released the hand brake, shirt to gear one, released clutch slowly. The engine didn't die, and I was driving for the first time XD. But the engine died a few times as I had some difficulties with get the car to move(releasing the clutch slowly) and reversing. But accelerating, turning and braking brought no problems to me. After all, I am a Gran Turismo and Need For Speed player. Lol.

We could only use gear 1 and 2 though. And the instructor didn't want me to accelerate. I still accelerate a bit but he told me to slow down when I went too fast.

After a few rounds, he asked me to park behind the car in a row. Omg ask me to park?! I stopped a little distance away from the car in front of me. I scared that I might knock the car. Haha.

Sat on the van to go back after that.

The 6 hours ends on a high note after all. Haha.

Unclear future

RM0.20 PLKN: 920508XXXXXX Tahniah. Anda ditempatkan di Kumpulan 2 atau 3. Penempatan akan dimaklumkan kemudian.

Its so late already and they haven't even confirm which group the 'lucky' Form 5 students will go to and the location of the NS site remains unknown. Only by sending a sms, I manage to know that small bit of info. I tried going to the website but was unable to find anything helpful. Haiz.

***

So many types of courses to take... I might go for Accounting and Finance. But I'm not ruling out the possibility of taking IT. Help College should be the college that I will be going to. The lecturer there told us that there will be a new site at Fraser park opening around July next year. It will be nearing to my house then. Haven't plan much yet because I'm still waiting to know when I'll be going to NS first. Then I can plan properly.

If I do go for NS, I hope I don't die there...

EDIT: Apparently they don't have the courses that I want at Fraser Park there. So I might join Help College at Damansara in January. This means I'll have to defer my NS and hopefully I won't need to join NS anymore. Haha.

Undang test

"Paul!"
I went forward as the person in charge called my name. I had just finish answering all the 50 questions of the undang test. The colour blind and reading test brought no problems(thank god! I thought I was going to fail the colour blind test). I had some difficulties with the 50 questions though. I wasn't confident of passing it(I prayed hard to pass XD).

I took the slip from them and glance at the paper. '42/50' Wait... that is the marks to pass. Above it wrote '46/50'. I passed!! Haha.

Phew... all the studying paid off...
